Calshot - Structure Modelling - The Castle (Part One)

Things have been hectic over the last couple of days as you may have read in ERs, but I'm trying to keep it all together. I find modelling is a great relief from all the stresses of life and today was no exception.

As it is such a major part of the layout I wanted to start construction of the castle now (especially as the layouts debut exhibition is on 4th September!) . Luckily, Saturday I planned ahead and bought some brick sheets and now after about 8hrs of work I have created the gatehouse for the castle. Still loads more to do. Drainpipes, hipped roofs (yes, plural!) and all that scribing on the stone areas. Oh and settling in of the two halves.

Gatehouse:

And as an aside, my rake of weathered wagons:

Looking good, lower part of the weathered wagons still looks a little clean perhaps. Where is the new layouts debut?

Hi John, and thanks.

The new layouts debut will be at Landford exhibition, Landford Village Hall - so if anyone is able to come along it would be nice to meet you.

Bother, same weekend as our own clubs show in Andover. I'll be there both days with my EM gauge layout "The Works Yard" so I'll have to see your Calshot another time. I've visited a few of the forts along the south coast but not Calshot yet, keep up the good work.

Oh blast laugh.gif

Shame as I don't think I can make it to Andover on the Sunday either. Just out of interest, have you got any photos of "The Works Yard" as it sounds very interesting.

Thanks,

Jam
