Excuse the terrible pun!

I'm putting this one back on the shelf for a few weeks now - it's had me tearing my hair out on several occasions this week trying to fabricate the flush glazing for the cab fronts, and near disaster as one cab seperated from the body!

I've finished transfers on her (which do look fantastic - a great job by John at Precision Labels - they were a custom set for me), painted the underframe all matt black (ready for weathering) and painted the small bodyside details (door open orange beacons at roof line, the buttons by the doors) and found some foam to use as a corridor connection.

I've still got to do the interiors, wire the two cars together, fabricate some windscreen wipers and weather the two units... which can wait until I've got my sanity back!

WOW! Only just caught up with this again... stunning work on the pacer James! You can come do mine next when you suffer withdrawal symptoms :P

Paul I've used CD jewel cases - which are even worse as they're laminated I think as if you don't cut it cleanly you get a rubbish edge... next time I'll find some real proper glazing material. I do think it's worth it though - probably the biggest transformation of any of the work I've done on the model if I'm honest.

James,

I use either thin clear sheet, about .015" I think, or 1mm perspex? sheet depending on the widow frame, both sold for modelling. It might be wise to get some 1mm sheet before you pick up the Pacer again if cd cases are that bad. I always end up scrapping several pieces of glazing when cutting it out.

Shows what can be done with the Hornby 142. Wish Hornby would spend a little time upgrading the model, because the overall tooling is still good!

Wonder is Shawplan might be able to offer some lazer cut perspex for the replacement windscreens because its looks very effective.
