Is your car on your layout?

blogentry-7330-090749200 1288429095_thumb.jpgWell...

Weather been poor, stuck in the house with one currently useless arm so when the parcel arrived from Hattons with a Ford Escort with the correct base colour it was time to jump in the Tardis. Back to Monifieth in 1983 and my mode of Transport was my cherished first car. My Ford Escort 1300 XL reg BUP 356L. I wanted to have this somewhere on my layout to complete the memories. I had my bronze coloured car two toned by one of my customers (worked in a Bank) by adding Reliant (no laughs please it was the exact shade required!) Sand Gold.

I trully wish I still had this fantastic car. No computers, ECUs, mysterious under bonnet components. Spanner, screwdriver WD40 and a spare plug was all you needed........

Anyway I think it looks rather good!

Any of you other bods created your own car?? Post any pics here...;)

I had my 1964 Sunbeam Rapier on my Black Dog Halt layout. It was actually painted with the Rootes 'Moonstone' touch-up paint which was all that I had left of the original car. Can't remember if I took the car off the layout before I passed it to Bentley MRG, or not.

Oh what a lovely idea :) - if only I could justify 'Sibyl' my beloved and cherishes '69 Austin 1100 on my layout... ...but the Calne Branch closed before she was built :(

hi Chris

Your Sunbeam Rapier was built the year I was born. Funnily enough I owned a 1964 mini until my ex brother in law wrote it off. :(

Quite liked that wee car too! Mutter mumble.... Perhaps I shall find a space for it too. Bet your Sunbeam would be great to have today also.

Chris :)

mini%20(2).jpg (Pasted a picture of this at top of page-not sure this copy worked-You can also just see the corner of the other Mk 1 Escort I had-it just didn't feel the same :( -mind you another one to add to layout!!)

When I was a teenager I repainted an N-scale VW bus in the orange and white of the one we had when I was at primary school - I still have it somewhere I think. I haven't found either of the cars I've owned myself in 1:76 - a Golf Mk. II Driver and a Spitfire Mk. IV. I'm keeping my eyes open though...

Made an N-gauge Morris 8, our first family car, and elderly when we got it, complete with suitcases on roof and luggage rack. Originally intended for my layout, it now lives in a miniature diorama on my mother's mantelshelf! Must get a picture when next visiting.

Hi Will vale and Paul S

Spitfire mk 4 eh? Always fancied a Triumph Spitfire or Stag. Lucky you. Mind you from always liking the look of them I bought a Rover 75 (modern one!) 3 years ago and I would hate now to change.

Paul-a Morris 8. They were a great vintage for cars. 18 years ago I bought a half put back together Austin 10 (1946). rewired it etc and made afair bit when I sold it. Very different driving. Wire brakes, no heating great fun though. Would like to see picture of your model.

Any more out there.....?
