Well its been a while since I posted anything about it (I've been distracted by Ruston rebuilds and 16T mineral wagons (I'm building a batch of 4 from Parkside kits)) but I hadn't forgotten this one. Since my last post about this loco I've soldered the bonnet (tab and slot), front bufferbeam, exhaust shroud (again tab and slot), steps, air horn and air tank (under the cab) in place. A couple of pics;

Everything went together well apart from getting the steps square but that's down to my incompetence.

I still need to solder the sandpipes and cabside handrails in place. The radiater grill, exhaust, front sandbox lids and the rivetted strip along the base of the bonnet will be glued in place later on.

Paul.

Is this going to be compensated Paul? It looks very neat so far - makes me yearn of another etched brass kit...

That's why there's no bearing in the front axle hole James. See here. Personally, I'd be a bit wary of building an 0-4-0 in any standard without compensation simply for reasons of pick-up: having all four wheels on the rail at all times is essential.

Nice looking kit, and a tidy build thus far Paul.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I'll be covering the compensation soon. Getting back into this one now, hope to have it running soon(ish).
