Work progresses slowly...
The bufferbeams have been attached and the buffers glued in place. The cut-out in the bufferbeam is for the tipping chain to run through, the loops at the end of the chain sit on hooks on the bufferbeam when not in use, these hooks being represented with brass rod glued in place.
The top plates are cut from the printed styrene sheet provided, two sets of cutting lines are included depending on whether the wagon is being built to 16.5mm or 18.2/18.83mm gauge. (The frame widths are narrowed for 16.5mm). I've also started fitting the ribs behind the bufferbeam and the ladle stops on the frame sides. The upper bufferbeam rib (on the right as you view the wagon from the side) has a chain attached to it which I'm yet to fit, I'm not sure if one chain is fitted per wagon or two (one on each side) and I've no idea what that chain is for. Any ideas?
Some pics;
The printed ends, one cut and ready to fit;
Note the brass hooks for the chain;
Side view, the ladle stop is fitted to the frame offset to the right;
The wheels are only temporarily fitted in these views;
Robert from RT Models sent me this link which includes some good photos of these wagons, I'm sure that he won't mind me sharing it here.
