Hi all we are having problems with the PC that the westcoast website is run from. The problem is that it keeps switching itself off !! A new motherboard is due to be fitted that will hopfully cure the problem and in the meen time an earler version of the website is running as a back up. This will be replaced with the latest 52 page version tonight.

Why are you running a commercially based system on a PC? Presumably it has no UPS, even if it does the network probably doesn't. For the cost of low cost hosting these days you'd be far better hosting externally with a provider with resilience in their systems

I run my own servers but unless there is a VERY good reason to keep a production site on my server they move to commercial as soon as they have left the development world. Currently we only have 1 production server - which is running a very specific, secure platform for a very small project that I couldn't justify the costs of a dedicated server for.

I have dedicated servers in the cloud (I run a web development business) if you want to shift - give me a yell!

Thanks for the comments. At the moment I can not afford to have the website hosted anywhere. Hopfully one day westcoast miniatures will be sucessfull but in the mean time we will have to do it ourselves. At least there are no adverts like the ones that I kept getting with the old site on webs. From today the site has been moved on to a linux PC and is running much quicker.
