Trackwork part 2

Greetings.

I think seeing the Derby layout ( and a couple of days break) must have inspired me a bit, because this afternoon I took a few hours to relay the track for ****** on the new board A.

Here are a few pictures. You can see that I have added an extra point/ siding for the coal yard, which will make the crossing interesting... However there are prototypes on the old Midland.

The turnouts are reliant on pbc sleepers for switching, so I hope that is not disaster No2 waiting to happen..! You will see that I have introduced a good few soldered pcb sleepers at weak points during the rebuilding. It was necessary to glue some thin styrene strips under these to make them the same depth as the sleeper base ( as mentioned on Steve's blog recently).

The easitrac is PVA glued straight down to the plywood, and appears to be robust and I am hopeful this time of decent performance.

Regards,

Chris

coming along nicely. You dont say how the points rely on the pcb for switching if its a wiping contact across the pcb it should be somewhat self cleaning and reasonably reliable. If you are depending on blade contact its less resistant to dirt.

Looking good Chris

A nice simple track layout...but should give a lot of operational interest.

Am curious to know what's inside the glass though?...I am guessing a half full/half empty pint of ale?

Looks like it has gone down well Chris. If you do need to re lay any of it I have found that the glue lets go nicely when brushed with hot water, better than normal PVA, but unless you do this it seems to be stronger.

Pete - that is the remains of a rather fine pint of St Peter's Organic beer from Suffolk :)

Don, any chance you could enlighten me on this pcb wiper method?

I was going to use blade contact, but if there's a more reliable method ( and its not too late)...

Kris that is useful to know. Thanks

Cheers

Chris
