The Night Riviera

With three Bachmann class 57's in FGW livery sat on my layout, and a fourth sat at the local post office awaiting collection, I decided I needed some suitable rolling stock for them to pull.

It started quite promisingly when I saw Hornby produced FGW sleepers but these turned out to be the Scotrail versions. So after months of deliberation I decided to have a go at doing them myself. My modelling skills are nowhere near the standard of the models which I see on this website, and I dont have an airbrush (or wouldn't feel confident using one) So I was going to have to use readily available aerosol's.

I managed to pick up 4 brand new Scotrail Caledonian Sleepers on Ebay for £11 each!!! and order myself a set of Dominic Rossi's FGW decals.

The first job was to rub down the sleepers using fine wet and dry paper to get rid of the white lines.

The bodyshell was then given a coat of Halfords grey primer and let to dry, followed then by a coat of Halfords Vauxhall Atlantis Blue as recommended somewhere on the old forum.

The doors are tamiya PS33 Cherry red, and the white handrails and yellow footplates are handbrushed using railmatch paints.
