Well I had deliberately planned a break from modelling over Christmas but after the festivities other family commitments have over ruled any possible desire to go in the workshop. One of these involved a long over due clearing out of the loft space. The bedroom ceilings were at risk ! well not really but......!

This led to a discovery of several old vinyl records and a decision that these should be digitised and interesting though that has been it has kept me out of 'The Tank'

A couple of old VHS recorders also appeared and I decided that I should dismantle these to rescue the 12volt motors in there – useful for general modelling but usually too large to fit locos! So the Tank has been in use but not leading to any progress of particular modelling projects.

Yesterday for the first time since mid December I did some work on the J10 and the main splashers are now in place but while struggling to fit those tiny part splasher over the rear drivers I detected a clearance problem. The whole modelling session had been beset with problems, mainly related to holding the splasher in correct location to the running plate and getting them soldered.

My present thoughts are that they will all need to come off again in order for mods to be made to the running plate so as to get more clearance. Any unsoldering most usually results in some unwanted unsoldering too so I am at present in something of a demoralised mood and not really wanting to make a start,

What a miserable return!

Not only that but the lawn needs mowing, - in February!?!
