narrow-gauge industrial feeder? Got to have somewhere to put the wired loco that might form part of the comp? It's (nominally) at 2' gauge with 'Peco' code 60 soldered to PCB strip. The 'tramway' effect is formed by laying more 'Code 60' on its side butted against the running rail. However, expectations must not be raised too high - it will be non-working!

No - just buried, not covered in snow! The 'infill' is 'Quickfill' a Gypsum-based product used in the building trade for patching plasterwork - and a £13.95 for 10 kilos a lot cheaper than modelling compounds (plus you can use it on walls!). A lot more detailing required - setts inscribed into the track (made it easier for horse-drawn chaldrons) (which will also be modelled) and a surface treatment with various grades of chippings, acrylic paint, weathering powders... The list is (almost) endless.

At least now I've reached a point where I can legitimately start on the competition element - the structures wil need to be set into unfilled areas (which explains the blue bits!).
