fixing a secondhand Hornby ZRA.

I Went to Stamford yesterday for a quick look around the Market Deeping Model Railway Club Exhibition.

I managed to resist temptation and walked out with only a slightly damaged ZRA in grey and yellow Civil Link livery.

It needs a coupling at one end and there is a buffer missing at each end.

So my question is, what should I use to replace the buffers?

I have Oleo buffers in my bits box but not sure if these are the correct type, so before I go glueing them on thought I'd better check first.

Source: my layout, Ruby Road.

Not sure what to use for couplings. Thinking that for now it can be used on the end of a train as it's only missing one coupling. In the future it could be made to be a translator between the old tension lock and any new method I start to use for couplings.

time marches on and I've now got a second ZRA from Neil Mason and it has been weathered and modified for 3 link couplings.

My plan is to do the same for the one end of my original wagon .

the roof also needs a file taking to it to remove the round vent that shouldn't be there.

A quick fix up and weathered it will look good.

Still need to fix buffers and couplings, though it may become an experiment in fitting a tail lamp so will be at the back of the train
