It's grim up north (pt2).
I'm back! Decided to have a bit of time out from blogging so it's been a while since the last entry. There's been some
progress on various fronts, the major work being on the extension to Grime Street, a few pics
As can be seen from the pics, the railway coal yard has been replaced with a large mill complex, I was never happy with the coal yard area so after several different attempts the Mill buildings were chosen, the basis for these being 2 Atlas Middlesex Manufacturing kits, a Bachmann sub station and Bachmann Rothley station building cut into a couple of pieces and made to fit.
The railway bridge and stone embankment are now in situ and pretty much finished, work on the backscene and buildings is underway with some low relief Kingmill flats being used.
The points are all now motorised with SEEP PM4 self latching motors, and I'm pretty much happy with the running qualites of the track, so the last remaining road surfaces and pavements can now be done and then scribed.
Work has started on the weathering, but there is still a lot to work on, the Mill buildings will have a pitched roof of some type, I don't like the sloping style seen here.
The majority of the finished outer of the woodwork is done, so it's a question of getting my finger out and getting on with it. Only problem now is I'm not sure if I want to rebuild Grime Street to fit to it (lots of chopping and messing) or build a 'new' Grime Street to fit to it, might be easier as I'd like to make it operationally more interesting with a couple of junctions on it.......decisions, desicions!
