  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Off out shortly for the AGM, so I better get ready.
  2. I've posted stuff and someones re-posted it on the same thread a couple of days later.
  3. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I went to post on ER's earlier but it had disappeared from the list of threads I had posted in, not to worry as it's now back. Now I've got to get a few things together for the SEERS AGM this evening.
  4. I was going to say London Transport as well but NHN beat me to it..
  5. There's a new retirement complex in Rayleigh so I looked it up. It looks OK but it's more care home than retirement home. Anyway by the time I need that sort of establishment it will probably have a long waiting list.
  6. I'm still using the washing machine I purchased in 1983, also a Zanussi.
  7. I visited Basildon hospital on Friday for a test. Basildon hospital is enormous but being built on a narrow site the buildings are long and narrow. I had an appointment at the Urology department and the (verbal) instructions to find it were complex. I got as far as the correct floor but couldn't remember whether it was turn right or left when leaving the lift. So I asked a hospital porter and he said he was going there so I just followed him. He told me to take a seat outside an anonymous door until I was called in. There was a lady also waiting there who was called in and she came out just before the time of my appointment at three and I was left sitting there on my own. After about twenty minutes as I hadn't been called in I knocked on the door and I was asked to come in. I said I had an appointment for three but the lady who was in there said she had no more appointments so she asked to see my appointment letter. Then it became clear, I'd been sent to the pneumology department. Fortunately I was on the right floor but at the wrong end of the hospital, the department I wanted, urology was about a quarter of a mile away. I eventually got there half an hour late but they weren't to worried about it but the patient who would have been after me went before me.
  8. It often happens on dual carriageways as well. When I approach such junctions if I'm not leaving the road I'm on I try to leave extra space between myself and the vehicle in front.
  9. Happy Birthday @Dave Hunt.
  10. I checked my usual oat milk (Alpro) and it is not gluten free, not that I have a problem with gluten. They do make a coconut drink and the unsweetened version has zero carbohydrates or sugar.
  11. Southend pier has been cut several times. https://www.southendtimeline.co.uk/southend-timeline-pier-diary-history-of-southend-on-sea.html
  12. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I forgot it was BIN day today and didn't put anything out. Didn't matter too much as its just recycling and food waste this week and the recycling bags are only half full and the food waste is outside anyway. Even the black bin which is only fortnightly collection isn't full yet. I'll leave it until next week when the whole lot gets put out.
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I spoke to my sister a couple of days ago, my brother's estate has finally been sorted and his bungalow has been sold, that's over a year since he died. In fact although I say 'his' bungalow he only owned one fifth of it which he had inherited from his second wife who died a year before he did. She inherited it from her first partner who owned it with four of his cousins. He died over forty years ago and tracing those four cousins or their heirs has proven difficult.
