Table 6. Miscellanea.

This table is titled Miscellanea. The miscellaneous snippets of information, some of which may be useful, some of which may bring a wry smile to those that know or knew better. The table is sorted by Text, as I assumed that most readers would be seeking information about a particular Class or individual locomotive. Dates are given in the form YYYY.MM.DD. I've used '00' in the date fields where the information wasn't given, i.e. a date of 1981 would be 1981.00.00, July 1981 would be 1981.

Table 5. Images.

This table is titled Images. A sort of graphical miscellaneous bucket. Pictures that I thought others might be interested in. The table is sorted by Text, simply to clump multiple pictures of the same subject together. Dates are given in the form YYYY.MM.DD. I've used '00' in the date fields where the information wasn't given, i.e. a date of 1981 would be 1981.00.00, July 1981 would be 1981.07.00 and 21st July 1981 would be 1981.07.21. As another aid to sorting, I have used the TOPS C

Table 4. Formations.

This table is titled Formations. The intention was to record examples of prototypically short or 'unusual' formations that would be useful to modellers, although this has extended to some longer formations, particularly for HSTs. The table is sorted by Text, for no good reason other than most of the other tables were. Not sure whether sorting by Date (or even Issue/Page) would be more beneficial. Dates are given in the form YYYY.MM.DD. I've used '00' in the date fields where the informat

Table 3. Liveries.

This table is titled Liveries. The intention was to record the modifications to the corporate BR blue (or green) plus the one-off liveries that in some cases only lasted until the next Works visit. The table is sorted by Text, as I assumed that most readers would be seeking information about a particular Class or individual locomotive. Dates are given in the form YYYY.MM.DD. I've used '00' in the date fields where the information wasn't given, i.e. a date of 1981 would be 1981.00.00, July 1

Table 2. Prototypes.

This table is titled Prototypes. The original intention was to focus on the prototype diesel and electric locomotives that existed prior to the Modernisation Plan but it has been extended to include prototypes on an ongoing basis, e.g. Class 252 HST, Class 370 APT, Class 210 DEMU, Class 140 DMU, LEV railbus etc. as well as some of the less successful Modernisation Plan classes, e.g. 21, 23, 28. I've also included some instances where individual members were modified, e.g. 37292 and 47901. The

Table 1. Firsts and Lasts

This table covers "firsts and lasts", i.e. the first time that something happened or the last time something happened. This could be introduction or withdrawal of stock, opening and closing of stations, depots or routes, and possibly others. The table is sorted by Date, as this seemed most appropriate. Dates are given in the form YYYY.MM.DD. To aid sorting, I've used '00' in the date fields where the information wasn't given, i.e. a date of 1981 would be 1981.00.00, July 1981 would be 198

Preamble

Hello.   Hopefully I haven't bitten off more than I can chew, and I'm not entirely sure that a blog is the best place to share this information, but I'm going to give it a go.   I've been reading old issues of Rail Enthusiast magazine and was jotting down information which I thought was of interest to me and so I considered sharing it.   This I will attempt to do in six tables, one for each topic that was of interest to me. These are:   1. Firsts and Lasts, i.e. the first or last time
