NLR No 1 Class works photos

Found a useful postcard photo of No47 during a visit to Bow Works and on the adjacent track frame and cylinders during a major overhaul, which pretty much confirms my 'guesstimates' on them and the motion plate.

NLR No 1 Class motion plate

Thinking about the whole slide bar / motion plate problem led me to looking through my archive where I found a works drawing of a later period, which showed half the motion plate and using the magic of Photoshop I again copied, flipped and joined the images to give me a complete motion plate. It may be a pig to cut out of brass so I might make a pattern and cast them in whitemetal instead.     'course the slidebars are something else again...........................

NLR No 1 - 10 Class 4-4-0T

Well following some exchanges on the North London Railway topic I have decided to bite the bullet and (re) start my scratchbuild of a Class 1 tank loco.   I managed to dig up some reference I sorted out in 2005. I also found the white-metal pattern parts which I made at that time, chimney, dome, safety valves and a smokebox door 'blank', which will need strapping and hinges attached to it, but is otherwise OK (it looks the wrong way round but this is a problem with scanning instead of getting

Can you see what it is yet? - Part the Last

Well Devondynosoar118 worked it out late yesterday it is indeed The Rocketeer!         I did get it done in time for the Birthday party presentation on Feb 9th, but it was a close run thing. It's a long time since I've worked 'til 2am three nights in a row! Still as they say, "If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined!"   Next project is an NLR 4-4-0T No1 class, but I'll be doing some 4mm NLR figures too and I'll post them as I go along.

Can you see what it is yet?

I thought it was about time I started a blog on RMWeb so that by the time my new layout & stock are under way I've hopefully got the hang of it [or thereabouts] I've just received a new modelling commission which, though it is a mechanical form of transport, cannot really claim a railway connection.   Over the next couple of weeks [i foolishly promised it for 9th Feb] I aim to post some images as progress continues and I thought it might be fun to await the first correct answer!   Peter
