I noticed a picture on a layout thread and thought ..that looks familiar! So, for your delectation I present: A Bachmnann Peak EMd by the customer, SWD sound chip fitted by me(as supplied by the customer)and then weathered as per some very nice photographs provided by the customer, close up of nose detail and some roof detail While doing this I had another Peak for the same customer And finally a couple of Heljan 26/27s They are fitted with Legomanbiffo sound chips in some of
Just finished some diesels for a client (they may appear elsewhere on a layout on RMWeb some time)
First up a Bachmann Class 40, regauged by Mike Edge and fitted with sound and weathered by me.. D343
and some roof dirt
A second Class 40
and again some roof dirt
more soon
Baz
Been doing lots of different things on the weathering front recently.
I was asked to number and weather 4 Heljan Mark 1 coaches in Blue Grey for client:
Starting with a BSK
and the end - note the dirt at the lower end of the door
A Corridor Second complete with number
A corridor First
and finally a TSO
and its number
Baz
Just to give some idea of the mix of weathering I get to do this week has seen
The Ivatt pair of mainline diesels - these are Bachmann owned by Nicktoix and what lovely locos they are!
Next up a Little Engines D11/2 - The Fiery Cross - in EM
and finally, for me for Grantham
Silver Link
and a bit of inspiration - a well cleaned loco which had gone to Carlisle and back - spot the dirty cab roof and tender top
Baz
I have had a wide variety of weathering to do including (finally) some for me!
First up two ex LMS BGs.. a Period I example
and a Period III example
And a Dapol Grampus
These were modified by Mike Edge for Carlisle
and yet more Mineral wagons.. a slope side (Parkside) and two ex Airfix kit built ones.
Nice to get a mention in the Carlisle article in the February Railway Modeller... some examples City of Lancaster top of the boiler on Duchess of Montrose and City of Lichfield which has also been fitted with a Zimo sound chip and speakers from Digitrains Baz
A EM gauged Syphon H not sure what the kit is or who built it but re-gauged by Mike Edge and a 4F built and painted by Nicktoix and now weathered and a 3/4 front view
A few weathered unfitted wagons
Slaters ex MR (later LMS) Cattle Wagon
a Bachmann BR standard Grain Hopper - a very nice wagon!
and a Parkside ex LMS Brakevan. Nice kit but the step boards are a pain
Baz
Covhops! Yes i like them and the Bachmann offerings are very nice. I have had 6 of these for a while and they may be needed to run on Chapel en le Frith if we can't get the Hattons ICI hoppers in time... some unfitted ones - not to filthy and a fitted interloper - too late for my time period but it may be swapped for another unfitted one. Baz
One of my fellow demonstrators at Warley (davey4270 on here) asked me to weather one of his small O gauge shunting locos.. And the result is .. Photo Courtesy of davey 4270. Baz
Two Bachmann EE type 4s. These are the latest ones and have been regauged to EM by Mike Edge. Legomanbiffo sound fitted in both and then gently weathered. D333 and D338 and a 3/4 front view of D338 - the gap above the bogie is very noticeable but isn't so when you have it on EM track. Baz
Latest locomotive.. SWD sound chip fitted, speaker in boiler pointing towards the chimney and then lightly weathered. Welcome, Hornby A4 Merlin. regauged using etched chassis overlays and EM wheels by Mike Edge Baz
Latest loco weathering. These are EM gauge - not sure who built and painted them but Mike Edge has been doing some work on them. First up a Hornby Fowler Tank with etched chassis and a DJH Crab Baz
First up a Newcastle and Gateshead 20T long wheelbase tanker
Two Hornby 20T Highland Bitumen tankers (number 3 and number 4)
and some Bachmann Briggs tankers - Number 18
Number 20 and
number 38.
The difference in tanks is noticeable as is the difference in the chassis provided by Bachmann for these,]]]
And all 3 in a row
Baz
I bought an ex Geoff Brewin built and owned Jubilee. It had been painted but not lined - so I have done that and named it Leeward Islands - it is for our club Layout Chapel en le Frith.
Before weathering
and now .. weathered
Baz
And now for something for me! Does happen on occasion!
a Nu cast A5 acquired from Tony Wright..
it was in LNER plain Black when acquired, now relined and renumbers to BR Black plus one or two bits added
then weathered
Enjoy!

So after a break for a holiday away a return to work
First up another Bachmann 08. This time in Green it was regauged to EM and dcc chip fitted by Mike Edge. I weathered it and now it has returned to be fitted with a ESU Loksound chip )with legomanbiffo sounds) and a speaker place behind the radiator grill.
As this was weathered about 5 years ago I have added some more dirt around the exhaust to bring it up to todays' weathering standard
and I have just repainted, lined and
Having obtained a Loksound micro decoder downloaded with Legomanbiffo's 08 sound files I took a Bachmann 08 apart (which, in itself does have it challenges) then fitted the chip (it fits above the glazing in the cab) and modifying the chassis to allow a sugar cube speaker behind the) the body was replaced and the loco tested.
It was then weathered using a 80:20 ink to water mix and powders (black, dust and a bit of "Rust".
it now awaits the OK from the owner
before it is sent
Some work for a client, Hornby EWS Sea Cows weathered to match some nice photographs supplied by the client. Graffiti generally by hand but some of Mr Railtec's nice transfers were used.
Rusty
a dirty one
a "patched" one
and finally a big lump of graffiti
as requested by the client these are sealed with Tamiya matt varnish.
Enjoy!
Back to wagons...
all EMd using Alan Gibson wheelsets, then fitted with either Instanter ir 3 link couplings then weathered using my usual inks and weathering powders.
Unfitted Minerals
unfitted 12T vans - Western Region numbering
a 12T ex Southern Railways design 2+2 planked unfitted van, with a Midland number
Hornby heavy oil tanker
and a fitted van
Next up more wagons.. and perhaps the odd loco or two
Baz
Latest work, two EM gauge locos. The first a modified Hornby (by an unknown builder who also painted it)
Reaguaged by Mike Edge
I have now fitted it with a Legomanbiffo Sound chip
And an ex LNWR G2 in BR Black - built and painted by Mike Edge. This was also built in OO gauge a while ago by Mike - he has recently fitted an EM gauge chassis to it.
a really nice loco - lightly weathered
and a bit of soot and grime added on the top of the boiler
Baz
You may have noticed that recently I have been focussed on wagons. There are a wide variety to be worked on! All are fitted with EM gauge wheelsets (from Alan Gibson), then have instanter couplings fitted, then weathered. The fitted vans have pipes added as appropriate. A few pictures, first up a selection of Fitted wagons. Bachmann Shock Opens and a Shockvan Bachmann MOGO and an ex Ratio SR 2+2 plank fitted van
Next up... more wagons and sound fitting/weathering a Class 24
Been doing a lot of wagons of a wide variety of shapes, sizes and types but all are now EM and have 3 links or instanter couplings fitted.
Bachmann 16T unfitted minerals have been part of the work. Just wish that Bachmann chassis were more "EM Friendly"! first up - one of the minerals fitted with a pressed movable end door
and a standard 16T mineral with doors in the floor
and the interior
First three of a lot more
An Airfix and a Bachmann SR designed 2+2
So today was spent doing some more wagons - all rewheeled, new couplings fitted and weathered.. first up a Black Tanker Heavier weathering of the over flows from the tank filler next up a maroon ICI tanker wagon and some Hornby ICI methanol tankers there are twelve of these - herewith four of them
and then one rewheeled and new couplings fitted from Mike Edge Baz
Something a bit more modern... the first of 42 TTAs to be rewheeled in EM, couplings added and then dirtied.... staining on the side using powders "washed off" using the ink mix and a ladies make up stick the other side and the non ladder end all of these are standard Bachmann wagons. so only another 41 to go.
