Yu Jing 3

This is the sum total of modeling work I have done in the past month;   These two are probably as far as they'll get for a while.   I just burned out after the last entry.   We've also lost the season here in Illinois.   I can't commit to any more air or spray painting.   At least, not unless we get some 'Indian Summer.'   Shame, really.   Maybe I'll actually work on the shoebox for once.   When it comes to the Yu Jing, though, I need to break one of the others.    I fi

Yu Jing 2

I made more work on the Yu Jing for Infinity.   Firstly, I finished building the Shaolin Warriors;   Kind of dynamic looking.    The heads were all separate and finicky.   I hated it.   I had another box, labelled Imperial Service Starter Pack.  Only supposed to be six figures in the box.   I found 12.  Firstly, what wasn't supposed to be there;   Thankfully, the bottom three were one piece each, and therefore complete.   The top three were eac

Yu Jing 1

As a quick diversion, I built a Sister of Battle;   This was a stand-alone, special-order model.   Kind of neat, though without special rules in the game.   I have a deliciously wild paint scheme for this army.   I also started on another army for Infinity the Game, Yu Jing   These are Xiaolin warrior monks, according to the box.   Kind of neat.   I have found, though, most table-top games make it somewhat aggravating to close into close combat.   My tub

Yeah, More Tau

Getting close to finished with the Tau box.   Second Ethereal-blade is knocked up.   I probably mentioned before, but it is a very simple, useful conversion.   The parts break-down on these kits was intended to allow for easy modification. This is all normal Ethereal here.   And the finished conversion.   Different arms, different head, & a backpack.  I've thought about changing the legs, but the torso & legs on the ethereal are a single molding.   I

VuGowe Nightmare

I finished the model for my local Gundam club's contest.   At least, I'm calling it done.      More work was had on the centaur.   I'm going to plan and finish the 'human' torso before I go farther with the 'horse.'  The paint guide I found for a palomino is about 90% pastels, so I want to minimize handling before clear.   I also made treacle tart.   Went over well.   Here's to the contest.

Vigna Ghina II 1

Sorry for the lack of an entry last week.   I ended up at a buddy's house, had much of a strong beer.    Then Independence Day.   In the meantime, I did finish the giant robot.   At least, I finished building it;   This one I do plan on painting.  I'm thinking flat or satin black with white accents.   I'll also need to make some grayscaled versions of the markings.   I don't like the colors they're in now.   If you don't pay attention to my other content, this

Variety

I've been a busy little shut-in this week.   Yes, we have had a 'shelter-in-place' order in Illinois, as well.   Either way, I've built the 'City Bike' set.   These things were little heaps.   Nothing lined up or fit.   The white bike, which is a Honda Tact, was to have a saddle-bag assembly.   I couldn't make heads-or-tails of it.   I didn't have directions in the box, nor were such forthcoming online.   I forget which of the two leftmost scooters is the Suzu

Valentine 3

So, the Valentine is at a pausing point;   As I mentioned before, the tracks that came with the kit are worthless.   I will be picking up the aftermarket tracks for this at some point.   Not right away, though.   I just bought an old Celica.   That's going to be a money sink for a minute.   Shame it's still winter.   Doubly shame I haven't a garage.   Working on the Celica is going to be fun.    We'll see.

Not much done in the past week.   I think we've had snow every day the past three weeks.   I tend to burn myself out shoveling.   I have fitted many of the small details.   Common logic is to omit many such details until later.   I, personally, hate trying to satisfactorily attach small parts after paint.   I'm mostly dawdling until I pick up the Bronco tracks.   I have two more stores I wish to visit.   If neither has the kit, then I'll order it.   We'll see.

Valentine 1

As mentioned last week, I finished the ReZEL.   As also mentioned last week, I didn't have a chance to fit the a-parts before I went to press.   So, here's the ReZEL with a-parts;   I don't much like the a-parts.   The giant sword is neat, but it can't hold the thing.   The missile pods look way too awkward for my taste, too.   I highly doubt I'll mount the parts again.   Still needed a shot with the parts for posterity.   Here's a fun glamor shot with a surprisingly re

To Infinity Alone!

Even less modelling this week.   Spent Saturday night at a friends up in McHenry, didn't end up home until 3-ish Sunday afternoon.    I was out Friday, Tuesday and Wednesday, as well.   Still, I managed to finish assembling the Infinity army I had picked up.    Obviously, the lot needs paint, but that won't be started until I get weather to spray.   Even then, other than this being on my bench, this is sort-of a lower priority to other projects.   Have fun with the pics!

To Infinity & Volkswagens!

As I've mentioned in Dogtown & Points West, non-railway projects are up in my queue.    I decided to create a second blog, in case some readers care not for anything that doesn't move on its own.   I participate in some table-top wargaming.    One game that I've always been interested in is Infinity: the Game.    Infinity is produced by a Spanish outfit by name of Corvus Belli.   The rules are...different from many of the other popular games.    For starters, you roll 20-sided dice

To Infinity & Volkswagens: Part the Second

Holding to my word, where is your weekly update.   I have done jack all this week.   We got more snow on Tuesday.    Tuesday night is also when I need to bring the garbage to the alley for collection Wednesday morning.    I handled such chores, and ****ed-off and watched some anime.   Monday, though, did bring some progress.   Firstly, minor tinkering with the VW.    My first attempt at gluing the hubcaps to the wheels failed, so I cleared more chrome plating from t

Tigers, Dragons & Rats

More building this week, stacking up more painting. Firstly, some 28mm 8th Army by Warlord games, intended for their WW2 game Bolt Action The sprue I had came as a pack-in with last month's issue of Wargaming Illustrated.  I'm not subscribed, but I might at this point.   I'm starting to bite more into the wargaming culture, though WI is aimed more at historical wargaming.   Only one of the four games I play is historical, and I don't need further expansion.   Secondly,

Thirty-Seven and 25

Oh hey, I took pictures this week.   Paint continues on the Tau.   I've chromed the optics as a precursor to a translucent blue.   I've always found a good chrome silver makes clears pop.    Muzzles and other 'hot' parts of weapons have received a coat of Vallejo gunmetal.   It is much brighter than I expected, but it'll do.     Sunday found me and my friend at the local Gundam club's 'build day.'   Nice events.   I get to chat with others, mostly around my age, wh

THE END IS NIGH!

Getting close to done with these two cars.    Both projects are about at the same point.   Glass is in, tail-lights and turn signals picked out appropriately, detail parts are being added.   I did have to buy some new Clearfix, though.   My old jar gelled over.    Fresh bottle is much easier to work with.  I'll be happy to have these two done.    Both have been floating about my stash for over a decade.

No pictures this week.   Did more filling and sanding of the Zaku head.   Started panel lining on the F91.   Cleaned up some pirates for paint.    Too hot.   Just, way too hot.

Still Going Commando

I finished building the commando!   ...no I didn't.   Arms, heads, hats, and Bergan bags all on.   I only need to clean and fit the waist equipment.   Still, that much more time on a project I should have finished already.    I do this to myself.   I REALLY should be done by this time next week.

Sparkle

Bit of work, not a lot of photos.   Black's done, now picking out the gold.   Last I worked on it, I did some work.   Chicago weather showed up, though.   We just got 1" of snow.    Makes for extra chores.   Here's a dude;   Chest, pauldron, and these little do-dads near the muzzle.    The little drones either have a pair of carbines with similar jobs, or a spotlight that has the same roundel as this pauldron.   You can see a row of the carbines blurred out in the backg

Slow Week #2

First off, let me get this out of my system; F*** G****** TAMIYA F****** DECALS! ABSOLUTE WRETCHED B*******! TEN SECONDS MY A**! G****** F****** WOULD NOT LET GO CLEANLY AFTER 60!   Anyways, I was doing more work on the Tamiya Alpine-Renault on my bench.   Weather is still a bit cool & damp for airbrushing Tamiya acrylics.   Once the weather improves, I need to spray the drivetrain.   Most of the rest of it is done.   There is a bit more to do.   Most of what I need to do yet

Slow Week

Seemingly not a lot done this week.    Monday and Tuesday, I spent most of my work time on a 28mm centaur for the Dungeons & Dragons game I play in.   My character uses a 'greataxe,' but the model was molded with a spear.    The work was simple.   I had planned on pinning the axe-head and handle, but I had no suitable materials for such fine details.   Also, this model was intended for a 2" round base, but the character is to be on a 1" round base for rules reasons.   The overhang

Sd. Kfz. 250/8 Neu 2 & Other

So, two weeks & 156 track links in, I realize I have the wrong hafltrack;   What I have here is a Sd. Kfz. 250/8 Neu.   What I needed was a Sd. Kfz. 250/8 or the like.   The hull is wrong, noticeably so.    Should feature a peak about midway down the crew area.   I'm really annoyed as I spent much time fiddling to get the tracks assembled.   I'll have to keep an eye out for the correct 250 from Dragon, so I can use these tracks I've already finished.   I started bui

Well, I finished the suspension; And I managed to set it pretty square.   I also started on the tracks;   ...ehhhhh.    I'll get back you on that.   This could take a minute.

Scooters 1

Apologies for the lack of update last week.   I was with friends till late.   I admittedly haven't done much.   I sprayed additional coats of color on the scooters;   Decided on green with the Honda.   Probably ruined the paint on the Yamaha.   Well, I'll (eventually) take a closer look.    Other blog will be updated, as the only other modelling I've done is more pertinent there..

ReZEL Type C 3

The ReZEL Type C is built. Impressive beast, isn't it?   What you can't see in this shot is the 'kickstand' the kit supplied.   This thing is very back-heavy.  Even with a forward-canted dynamic pose, It just doesn't want to stand straight.   It transforms, too; This form, called 'waverider,' is awkward in many ways.   Firstly, it doesn't want to hold this mode.   There are not many locks, and what few there are are weak.   Mounting it on this spare stand was also
