About this blog

Exploring using the Hornby Maglight (R7338) intended for the 4/6 wheel coaches, for other use contexts.

Why not just make your own magnet light system (you may ask)? Because I don't feel I have the skill to create circuit board or circuit logic structures which will last as well as Hornby's Maglight, yet would like the advantages of less drag from pickups on other trains.

Stealing a Maglight from a 4 Wheel Coach and attempting to place it in a Virgin Mk3a

It's January, the Hornby R7338 maglight has not been released. I'm very eager to play with the Maglight system so wanted to get ahead of the game, with the 4 Wheel Coach being quickly released, I purchased one in a beautiful GNR livery (R40104A), in order to test out what I might be able to do with the maglight system.     Taking the coach out the box, reveals there is a pull tag to enable the lights, however when I tired to pull it out - the whole chassis came off! At least
