Delph - The whole banana

By moving some of the furniture, I was able to assemble all four scenic boards for the first time, today. Still on the floor, naturally, as the support structure is not yet built.

The occasion for this event was a visit by Tim Venton (Tim V), of Clutton fame, following his visit to the Midland Model Engineering Show nearby. Tim kindly helped with the removals work and assembly of the layout.

Attached photos show the results - looks impressively long for a single line branch terminus.

Two overall views, first from the station end and then from the fiddle yard end:

This closer shot of the station shows the approximate location for the control panel - right at one end so the operator doesn't block the view!

Blimey, I've only just got back, and you've posted already!

I can confirm that Delph (Holt) looks pretty impressive, and the underside too.

I absolutely love the way the contours of your baseboards follow an outline bordered by geographical features rather than the usual perpendiculars. It really is quite refreshing.

It makes for something clearly more visually engaging than the average layout and there's a certain 'tantalising tease' about how it's going to look further down-the-line.

One of my favourite threads to follow :)

Ah ha! I didn't have a two hour drive home after your departure! Thanks for your kind comments and ideas during the visit.

Trouble with blogs is they keep missing the radar, which is why I missed these updates. The layout has come on fantastically well and I must say you don't do things by half. That control panel for instance. It was a good idea to incorporate Delph New Road into front of the layout as it puts the railway into its environs (I could only incorporate Shaw Hall Bank Road retaining wall due to lack of squeezing space in the shed). The baseboard top is grey...Did you spray this before laying track?
