It's not often I post videos on my RMweb blog, but I had a request from a reader to make a video of the A2/1 running, so here it is running on my rolling road. If I can get up to the High Wycombe club soon at some point I will film it on the test track.

The bufferbeam's been painted red, the dome painted green, I am working on cabside transfers and the model will get a coat of Johnson's Klear tomorrow too in preparation for weathering at some stage.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this build and am planning to do another, so I can have a matching 60509 albeit with the eight wheeled tender instead.

Until next time - and the next Thompson related project.

I do need to find another locomotive project to do I think. Has there been one which wasn't Thompson related in the last two years?!

Goodnight folks!

Well done, a good build and if there were 7mm plastic bodied locos to kit bash, it would be really good to see what you did in the larger scale, as your results in 4mm are so good.

Fantastic work as always ;)

You are getting good at this cut and shut work Simon, have you considered a job as a Plastic Surgeon? :D

looks great Simon it's got quite a kick to the motion is the quatering still spot on or has that still to be fine tuned?

Love the way you've modelled the wobble too :-)

How about doing one in orginal condition with no defelctors and a 6 wheel tender - super v2! Thompson has done some other canny rebuilds too. How about a K5 next?

Thanks for your support chaps.

Pete, definitely needs some tweaking. One of the driving wheelsets is definitely "out of true" which gives a bit of a wiggle. The kick to the motion is the very poor Hornby controller I am using!

The wobble however is entirely down to the fact it is currently a 4-6-0 and not a 4-6-2 - I am working out the best way of reinstating the cartazzi wheels, to provide support at the rear and also to help guide the locomotive round corners.

Cbeagleowner - very tempted by an original A2/1 form, but it would be just out of my time frame. 60509 in apple green beckons, or 60510 in wartime black but with the eight wheeled tender and full deflectors, with BR number and branding.

As for the next project...oh, the K5 does sound like a laugh! :)
