Par Station in N Gauge - Playing with stock and photo shoot!

cornish trains jez

Good afternoon,

No modelling today but thought I would put boards 1 and 2 together and test a bit of stock on this section and take a few posed photos to show the progress to date (not as much progress as I would have hoped for!).

This exercise was beneficial as I have discovered that the sides of the footbridge are slightly too low over the main running lines :banghead: (hence the card spacers to adjust the height), so tonight I will be removing these and filing them down.

The station building has had the first coat of paint on the canopies and still requires a second to finish off.

Anyway, here are a selection of photos. As always, all comments are welcome.

Class 50 arrives, London bound.

I envy the space you have Jeremy... no room for 9-coach expresses in this household! Especially like the final shot... captures the feel of Par well, just a shame it's an EE Type 4 not a Type 3 on the CDAs!

Graham

Edit: I meant to ask before: do you have a track plan of the whole layout, and are you running this with DC or DCC?

Its nice to see full length trains

Who makes the early Mk II in the second pic? Is that a CJM or vinyl overlay?..

Hi Graham,

It's the first time that I have been able to build a model this big. However I have to dismantle it after use as I don't have a permanent room for it until I can afford to convert our loft space.

The layout is in DCC, my first venture in digital! In terms of the track plan, the viewing side is taken directly from google earth. I first printed it out and used it as the plan, without this I would have found it really hard to build. The fiddle yard is on a seperate sheet.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Thanks Pete,

The rake in the first photo was put together using a photo from "Backtrack" magazine. The MkII is a CJM model as is the exquisite NSE class 50 (my pride and joy!)

How was your first week in London?

Best regards,

It's looking good. Good use of the space you have available...and a good location to boot!

Thank you! I discovered the location by accident whilst looking for photos of china clay wagons. I was so inspired by the potential for so many interesting train movements that I had to make it my next layout. My first attempt at a prototypical location.

Best regards,

Jeremy

I like that, it's looking very promising, the full length trains look the part,

cheers

Thanks mate! I need to get some more of the Farish MK2 air cons as I only have enough at present for one rake.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Nice photos Jez. I particularly like the 50.

I reckon that your passengers (or was it 'customers' by your period?) might be in for a shock when reaching the other end of your footbridge though.

Regards, Andy

Thanks Andy, I must get those platforms started on board 2. It's a bit of a health and safety hazard at the moment off the end of that footbridge!!

Best regards,

Jeremy

Nice set of photos Jeremy displaying some of your stock in a good size space.

Like the Class 50-Looks good though LLB would be nice as well! :D

Out of interest are those some Tulis Russell hoppers in the photos of 37206? If so can you tell us more about them.

Cheers,

Mark

Fine thanks Jeremy - no modelling done though but I did make a 'to do' list on the UK bound plane this evening...

Maybe next week I will pack some 'train stuff' in my hand luggage...

Hi Mark,

They are Tullis Russell hoppers, which are from Farish. They will need a bit of extra detailing, but straight out of the box, they are a fair representation. A large logo blue will be the next class 50 I purchase but I may wait for the Dapol one to be released.

Best regards,

Jeremy
