Making hay while the sun shines (a chance to get outside with the camera)!

Killybegs

It is pretty amazing that, while you poor guys in the UK are suffering the most horendous weather, we have clear blue skies here in the north west of Ireland.

In between working on the train shed for Killybegs, I have been getting on with building wagons and vans for Worseter. Some of these are due to see service on Clinkerford at York next year when Kempenfelt of this parish (the new owner) is hoping to run the layout in BR guise on at least one day, so that's given me an incentive to get on with them! Having finished building a batch of vans and wagons I have now made a start on lettering and painting/weathering. In the interests of economy (I need an awful lot of them), the kits are built pretty much as they come out of the box with just the odd bit of extra detailing. First three off the production line are seen below. The pannier is a Bachmann body on a High Level chassis. It's still waiting 'enhancement'!

Excellent work as always John! The sunlight on the stock looks superb, it already reminds me of those stunning images captured in Lightmoor's 'BR Steam In Dean'.

Yes next year should be a year of a few first's! The first show that i'll be taking full responsibility for the exhibiting of Clinkerford (Manchester despite being the handover was just as much your show as it was mine John IMHO! :-) ), the first time of operating Clinkerford in a BR guise as well as a GWR guise, and maybe even the first year I finish an item of rolling stock!! :-p

For those interested Clinkerford is also due to make an appearance at the 2013 Cardiff show in October, along with the Scalefour society stand.

Clinkerford really deserves a thread/blog of its own, if only to show off your stunning handiwork John. Maybe it's something that I can work on over the festive period and provide a bit more news, updates and photo's leading up to the outings next year.

For any prospective exhibition organiser's out there, please feel free to pm me if you're interested in booking Clinkerford in either GW and/or BR guises. I am almost certainly looking from 2014 onwards now, however all offers will be considered. :-)

Best Wishes

Paul

Sometimes a single shot is all it takes. Beautiful! It would be hard to get that kind of light inside. Very inspirational, thanks :-)
