Par Station in N Gauge - Platforms getting there!

Good evening all,

My second entry this week! I must admit, I have been fairly busy modelling over the past few days and the layout is starting to show some progress now.

I have decided to get the platforms down on board two. The edging is Peco and as you will see from the photos, I have used card to strengthen the centre and also used as the platform top as I feel it provides a good texture to paint onto. I still have to scribe the paving onto the island platform which I will do later on in the week. Space has also been allocated for the island signal box. (I'm looking forward to building this - in plasticard this time). I'll also build and fix in the end ramps.

Still lots to do!!

Below are some more progress shots. Does it look like Par yet!!??!!??? :declare:

I have posed my 6 car Dapol HST for good measure which really shows how long these platforms are. Come on Dapol, need that buffet car to complete the set!! :derisive:

As always, all comments welcome.

Edging fixed into position using super glue to form a strong bond.

Two entrys in one week :O I see married life is kicking in

Great stuff Jeremy - The HST looks mighty fine and you have modelled a good length too...should be fun to operate and along with long clay trains snaking through the background will be awesome.

Is that a toothpaste 50 I can see in the background?...

Very nice, thats Par alright! What sort of season do you reckon it will be set in, there has been a lot of talk of seasonal modelling lately.. High summer? (Which I guess includes all sort of weather..)

Love the HST set, I want one....

Just need that buffet car now.I think Dapol are releasing it in the next month or so. Hopefully the TGS will follow soon!

Best regards,

Jeremy

P.S The mesh is working out really well so thanks again for this. Just need to fix the cut pieces into position now! Very fiddly!

Thanks Pete! Yes, that is 50030 Repulse awaiting its next turn of duty. I must admit, there has been a bit more modelling taking place since I got married!

Jeremy

Thanks mate! I haven't thought about a particular season yet but I think I will go for late Spring as Par will have a tree lined backdrop and this will set the layout off nicely with plenty of "greenery" as a backscene. Best regards,

Jeremy

Looking good Jez. Can just hear those Paxmans winding up for take off.

Cheers mate! I'm really tempted to try and get some executive liveried power cars as I like the idea of having a blue/grey coach set to accompany them, showing the livery transition period.

Best regards,

Jeremy

The only problem I had with the mesh was clogging the holes with glue. Araldite rapid worked best as you could apply it to the frames or posts then clamp the mesh to it. Paint has to be done thinly too or it clogs up the holes as well.

If you are modelling more recent weather you could just dump an entire watering can full of water over it all, regardless of season!
