Par Station in N Gauge - Getting a bit "meshed" up!

cornish trains jez

Good afternoon,

I spent a few hours yesterday trying to make some progress on the footbridge for Par station.

I have now cut and attached some of the sections of mesh to the bridge (mesh courtesy of devondynosoar), and fixed them in place. I have ordered another section but it seems that most suppliers seem out of stock of this item so I can't progress any further until it is received.

I have also made some progress on the footbridge sides as the undersides needed trimming back to allow clearance under the footbridge. I'm still not sure whether to add the rivets to give it some extra realism.

Still a bit more work to do but it's starting to get there now.

Here are a few progress shots. As always, any comments and tips are most welcome.

The steps side mesh has not been fixed into place yet as I still need to make a mini frame for it using some strip plastic.

That looks really good. I am sure I have no more left as I found the empty box today whilst looking for something else!

Glad to see such fine progress, i have been eagerly awaiting developments following the last entry.

That's coming together nicely now - the mesh really looks smart :good:

Thanks Pete! It's not easy cutting the mesh but the kitchen scissors seem the best way. Luckily the wife didn't notice me using them for "something other than food preparation"!!

Jeremy

Nice work Jeremy. It's hard to believe this is 2mm scale. ;)

I've stood on the real thing many a time to take a few photos. :D

Cheers,

Cheers Mark! This is my first effort at scratchbuilding in plasticard and it seems to be turning out ok.

Looking good. Do you know what mesh it actually is?

Regards, Andy

Hi Andy, I'm not sure what mesh it is but it is part of an N scale chain link fencing kit. This piece was kindly donated to me by devondynosoar118 and I'm just waiting for some more to come through in the post from a supplier near folkstone.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Proper job!  Coming on nicely.  Let me know when you come to weather it, I'm sure I've got some photos of inside the top of the bridge, in case I ever wanted to model something similar.

Cheers Graham! I'm going to give it some weathering as from photos I've seen on the web, taken in the late 80's, there was some paint flaking off and some rust appearing. Any photos you have would be very much appreciated.

Best regards,

Jeremy
