Cheddar Station

Evening all

My birthday present to myself this year was the Home Edition of Coreldraw. It is quite simple to use and as promised last time I've managed to put together the plans and elevations for Cheddar Station. The building scales out at just over 2ft long. At the moment I've allowed for the building to continue below ground level, but I may well end up removing this.

My plan is to use a MDF carcass for the buildings with overlays for the Bath stone quoins, door and window surrounds. These will need filing to achieve the necessary chamfers. The limestone walls will probably be scribed clay/filler. Bargeboards, windows and doors will be etched.

I haven't shown the shed plan as I'm still working out the rooflight details. Also, I haven't drawn the gents toilet at the Yatton end as this will be added after the main building is finished.

Nice drawings of a great prototype. Thanks for the tip about Corel, sounds like you are satisfied with it?

I'll back Ullypug on the capabilities of Corel Draw - I've been a user since Coreldraw 3 back in 190blonk.  Its an excellent DTP package, NOT a draughting programme like AutoCAD, BUT it is easy to learn and very versatile.

Looking at the photos there's some very interesting stock on that sandford & barnwell layout

Definitely going to want to see it though Epsom and uckfield are both a bit too far to travel for me.

Would be good to hear if these are might have been workings or backed up with evidence!

Thanks for the hint about using Corel Draw. I have the professional version. I had never thought of using it for this type of application.

Andrew - are you going to produce a second kit of parts for a certain other individual, modelling the same location?!

Ullypug you might have a word with the chaps who are building Sandford & Banwell, I saw it at the Uckfield show, as I'm sure they have lasercut the bargeboards. Its will be at the Epsom show this April.and I've added the url for Uckfield for you.

Thanks for the link Dave. I was at Uckfield 2 years ago when they were demonstrating the work in progress, so had a good chat with them. Would you believe it, the bargeboards for Sandford are a slightly different pattern!

Last time I saw it it had been turned into a double track secondary line and there were green class 47's on it. It was work in progress though!

Just looked through the piccies and I see what you mean!!
