Par Station in N Gauge - "Meshing" around with the footbridge

Good evening all!

I have finally been able to get somewhere close to finishing this structure for Par station and I am rather pleased with the results. The mesh has fitted in well, albeit seriously tedious to fit, and I have finally painted the model, and added the lamps using wire handrail for the supports and wheel axle bearings for the lamps. I have also made some lamps out of rounded off cocktail sticks and painted them white. ( I have yet to fit these ).

I have also decided to take a big step forward and have moved in the permanent way gang in to convert all the Peco code 55 track to 2FS easitrac. However I'd like to get a good amount of work on the scenics done first, and with a baby on the way due next month, I'm not sure how far I'll get.

I'm also tempted to start a layout thread once the track has been changed over to 2FS so I can document the progress of this long term project and keep it all in one place.

Anyway, here are some progress shots of the structure both off and on the layout.

The footbridge really does look the part, espicially liking the work you have done with the mesh. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing more as you do it.

I knew that you would eventually give in with the track. a good decision :good: I'm sure Pete will be along later to add his approval too.

I'm sure Pete's on his way but, while we wait, I will add my agreement to the comments about the track - it will transform the appearance.

Thanks mate! The mesh was really tricky to cut and fit but I'm pleased with the finished result.

Having seen the many superb 2FS layouts on this site, I couldn't resist having a go myself and I was so pleased with the trackwork on my small swiss project in 2FS, it was inevitable that Par would follow suit.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Thanks Jerry. I'm not looking forward to ripping up the ballasted N gauge track but the end result will be worth the effort. I think I may need to raise the track bed a little though, as the platforms will sit too high otherwise.

Jeremy

Well, I'm not the Pete you are waiting for, I'm a different one but for what it's worth I approve the Easitrac decision too...

May I, too, add my congratulations - not only for a very handsome-looking footbridge, but more importantly for joining the darkside!

I guess it's me you're referring to as I have been gently provoking Jeremy to go 2FS on the trackwork ;)

Well done for finishing the footbridge and taking the BIG decision...no looking back now...

Thanks Graham. I'm glad this footbridge is now finished. I have drawn up the signal box already for the next structure, but the change to easitrac will take up most of my modelling time for the forseeable future.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Cheers buddy! Not looking forward to ripping up the ballasted trackwork, or building the turnouts, but I know the end result will be worthwhile. I'll have to start that layout thread to keep the progress up to date. Thanks again for the gentle persuasion over the last few months, think I needed this to move "to the dark side"! :D

Best regards,

Jeremy
