NEW LAYOUT, TRACK DOWN

Well after the success that iv had with Pilot Road ( which is available for shows and exhibitions) i thought its about time i started a new project, i decided to go a little bigger than the box file and went for a 4ft x 1ft plank which i had laying around.

the basis is really just something to shunt a little and hopefully develop my scratchbuilding skills and start making a move into dcc and eventually explore a little sound.

ok the plan, sorry its a kinda mess but its all i could forge together on a sunday night?

the layout will comprise of 2 wagon and scrap workshops with a fuel point and loco service shed, i hear the screams " he means a tmd ", well yes but there isnt going to be much loco stabling more movements of wagons.iv also put a length of track to the side which will be static, and appear to run off through a large gate, i wanted to have a little section for some rusted scrap wagons or a half scrapped loco, and a car park, yard with plenty of cameos and items scattered.

as always thoughts and opinions are always welcome, also i havent got a name for this one yet

regards

Hi Neil,

It looks a nice little plan - just a thought though - if you cover up all the track which will be inside a building or fiddle yard, then there is not a lot of visible track left.

thanks stu, and i definatly agree, but which building do i take out, as a thought i could lose the shed on the left and have it as an ehgineers yard/ballast loading etc

the only other thing i can think of is to add a sliding traverser on a separate board and make full use of the whole track shown, any thoughts on this pls

thanks

Hi Mason

I have just seen a post of yours on PCMs "Llanbourne North Wales in the 80s" thread and I noticed your avtar with I think a Railfreight VDA wagonwith open doors.

I have just bought some VAA and VBA wagons from Bachmann and was a bit disappointed to find that the sides are a solid molding, so no ability to open the doors - well not without a craft knife or saw!

So I was wondering if you could let me know how you achieved an open door on the wagon, was it a RTR, kit or modified version?

Thanks you and regards

Thanks for the reply Mason, so RTR bashing it is then! Looks so much better with open doors in a camio scene I think like what you have done.

Is your VDA the Hornby one? I think these are now disconnected, so I will have to hunt out a second hand one.

Some close up shots would be great to see, thanks.
