There you are just plodding along adding this bit and then that, and it happens, there is nothing left in the pot to add.

I added the coal rails, water filler, tool box and the sand box fillers to the tender. So that is the tender finished apart from the cleaning and painting.

Then back to the engine. I bought on Ebay a Midland ejector for this, but the silly so and so's sent it to the wrong address, so there will be a few months delay on getting it. I did have in the spares box half an ejector from the 2mt. This was filed, drilled and had bits added to turn it into a Midland looking one. I think it turned out well, just annoying to spend the modelling time doing it. I drilled out the handrail knobs for 1mm wire on the ejector side to make it larger than the normal handrail. Thought it looked more effective.

Next came the five white metal parts. I drilled the smokebox door for the handrail knobs and fitted the handrail. this soldered nicely over the front hole. It was a close run thing though, The hole was only about 1mm smaller than the door. Then the four sand box fillers. Fortunatly there was a spare, I managed to melt one by not taking my foot off of the switch when being spoken too. Then I rembered I had just added a brake ejector to the loco, so thought I ought to add some vacuum pipes to the loco and tender.

I fitted the motor to the already fitted fold up mount. The kit arrived with a 40 to 1 gear set which I used. The worm is a glue on one, so it was left overnight for the loctite to do its business. Once conected to the controller, it ran on the rolling road nicely in both directions. Once I had picked myself up off the floor. I set it to one side to start my running in process.

The only thing left for me to do now is the backhead and any other detail in the cab. This will not stop the cleaning and painting.

Whats next time for me to start organising. It is something completly different for me. Something I have never built before. The wheels should be here for me when we come back from holiday. Hopefully we will still be going. But this depends on the the inlaws etc.

Hi Pete, plodding along and adding bits here and there is such a nice way to be modelling. But then for you maybe there is time pressure - I can't remember if this one is for a customer?

That injector is a little gem, the photo of it where it is mounted in place really shows your high standards. This is going to be a very special loco!

This one is for sale or will be. I bought it on spec, the price was right. It has been a lovely kit to do, just a couple of minor faults, but one I would do again. I have found that with George Norton designed kits they go totether well. They are old school done with a designed with pen and paper.

Nice piece of work! Is that a compensation beam on the inside of the chassis?

Yes it is, there is one each side, running on a single pivot but they move idependently of each other. The motor is one end and dummy valve gear the other. The chassis works well once there is 1/2 kilo on it. Just need to add pickups now.
