Forge building, bridge and more rocky bits

I've been busy making a model of St Fagan's Forge, which is going to be located near the bridge over the road featured in these photos.

The forge is going to be squeezed in front of the embankment on the left of the bridge. The layout is set in 1947, so I am having some fun figuring out how the forge would be used by that time. I'm leaning towards the idea that its owner is doing some repairs to motor vehicles, as I fancy having a rusty old tractor or lorry parked outside.

Nice forge. In a rural area there could be a lot of agricultural work for both the horses and fixing machinery.

Does anyone know what should be on top of the chimney; given the size of the fire etc. the idea of a little chimney pot sounds unlikely.  I based the model on photos such as this

but I haven't seen it first hand.   I'm not too worried about exact prototype accuracy as you can see from my model, but I would like it to look plausible.

Your building and Rock formations are both very impressive.

I know the area well holidaying in Tywyn often and your scenery captures the upland feel of the area between Corris and Brithdir very well.

Cheers,

Andrew
