A BR Red Duchess..... a damsel in distress?

I have recently been busy with Murgatroyd tankers - but have had the opportunity to weather an EM Gauge Duchess. This is in one of the two types of BR Lined Maroon - and, as it happens, the owner is not over keen on that livery so..

a clean loco

and, after and application of inks and powders

and for some close ups...

running gear (powder applied while ink is wet)

and some dirt build up around the lower edges of the firebox/footplate "joint"

and some bits of the tender - water filler area first

and a side on of the tender itself - not the build up of dirt along the tender top and also at the joint between the underframe and the tender body..

enjoy!

Is that lining panel on the cabsides correct? I thought it extended up towards the roof?

There were two types of lining to Red Duchesses, this is the earlier style that emulated the lining on green locos.

One of my favourite classes of loco's, so much so that I nearly have the same number as the real ones built in the Hornby Dublo collection (lots waiting to be renovated).

I might try and weather my N gauge ones using ideas gained from this post, keep the updates coming

Paul I know it isn't weathering but have you tried replacement magnets for your Hornsby dublo duchesses? It improves performance so much.I got mine off a dealer on eBay.

I have another red duchess to do so will update when complete
