2010 Challenge - I must be mad!

So having decided that I've very limited spare time, limited spare room, limited skills and limited funds I going to throw my hat in the ring for 2010 challenge. Hopefully it'll give me the impetus to just get on and do something rather than just planning it. I'm just preparing a few notes to launch a new blog on the build.

It will be in S7 with no compression of the prototype, all in 2010", in the meantime here's a small clue or taster for the project location. In researching the chosen prototype certain areas have been very elusive from a photographic point of view. However recent surfing have unearthed a couple of gems from Transport Treasury, who have kindly given me permission to reproduce these images on this forum. I have used them on several occasions and can thoroughly recommend their service and quality of photos. Unfortunately I can't fit this quay side into the challenge area but the area to be modelled is just up the road from this point. The watermarking is down to me so that the photos are appropriately credited

I've a few more photo's I'd like to post but they were sourced from the HMRS archives, as yet I've not had a reply from my enquiry about publishing them, so they'll have to wait.

More to follow soon - looks like one long shopping list for the Wigan show!

Agree, that looks like a well spotted location. This should be good!

Re your query about the custom content blocks, yes I have the same experience with everything other than the standard code being stripped when you save. Links and images are all you can put in there, it seems. Bu that can be done nicely, see eg Buffalo's blog.

Thanks for the link, you've not done so bad with your index either - I'll try something similar for the 2010 challenge blog to have a nice index. With only a handful of postings on here a full blown index seemed a little over the top. However once I've got a little more structure organised it'll be worth updating.

Wooo that looks like a great location. My Dad was interested in doing a joint entry with me in 7mm but we were struggling with location vs space available. Maybe I need to re-visit it with him over Christmas! Thanks - you've given me an encouraging nudge :)

I'd love to know what that location was - I'm always interested in waterside locations that have railways. I can't see too many clues in these though. It looks a bit like East Anglia, but I'm fairly familiar with most railway locations in the area, and I can't say I've seen it before.

Hi,

These are of course Healings flour mill and they operated their own PO wagons (details in the Gloucester Garriage & Wagon PO wagons book published simply ages ago). I believe the track to the wharf was horse worked. Last time I went in the 1980s there was still track in situ in the concrete on the wharf. For those interested there is still a lot in place at the site of the shed and quay/mill.

Leicester MRC built a P4 model of the shed & Mill area about 1981 (actually Tony Freestone and & I built it with Dave Smith doing the buildings).

Cheers Tony
