Wonderful Dave! I see the photos in your gallery are dated September 2nd 1905. Is it a coincidence that this is two days before Dean died?

Hi Mikkel, complete coincidence I'm afraid! I'm trying to model the kind of vegetation found at the end of Summer and it was a just a random date from the beginning of September. Very appropriate though as you point out, definetly the end of an era!

Thoroughly enjoyed the latest instalment in your blog!:-)

Best wishes

Hi again Dave, well maybe the spirit of the Great Western directed you towards that date!

Just looking at your photos again. The point rodding is so very convincing. Any plans for a backscene?

Glad you liked the story.

Hi Mikkel, I do like the idea that somehow I'm channelling the spirit of the Great Western! :-)

At the moment the backscene is just a 16 inch high strip of MDF and needs painting.  It's part of the layout building process that I don't feel very confident about and really need to get on with!  I'm hoping this book when it comes out will be helpful http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0711038422/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_img?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3KDZ2J4UDIT3&coliid=IDD8H222TER96  I've met Paul Bambrick a couple of times at shows and he's definitely got some good ideas regarding backscene construction and painting.

Glad you like the point rodding, I was a bit unsure about the colour initially but now its been weathered a bit it's growing on me! :-)

Thanks for the link Dave, I hadn't heard about that title. It will go on my wish list, but not the public one just yet. I have to be very strategic as I'm trying to convince my wife it would be romantic of her to give me a Cameo Cutter for christmas!

Lol! I think a cameo cutter sounds the perfect romantic gift! :-) I hope you are indulged and look forward to seeing the results you get from it!

You can relax, Dave: the book isn't due for release until April!

Hi Simon,

Good job there are still plenty of other things to do on the layout then! :-)
