Foster Street - Simple Locomotive improvements (part 7)
Well I cant believe this particular string is up to part 7 (started in January) and there is still a lot of work to do, the problem is modelling time with all the other manic commitments outside of work is in very short supply.
So you would think that due to this, a sensible chap would knuckle down and use whatever time came along wisely to move on-going projects onto completion. Well I don't think I could ever be considered sensible, so in my usual numpty way I plodded on.
Originally I had 2 older Farish Duchess Locomotives both in terrible BR liveries that I wanted to rescue and present in a decent LMS livery. These were scheduled for a little attention and added to my WIP box.
The Crab and the Rebuilt Scot, were quickly sorted and the locomotives moved to take up duties on the layout, which meant the two Duchess locomotives would be the next in line for attention. So I decided that one would become a "Semi" in post war black livery and the other would be presented in LMS crimson, simple or so I first thought.
Then I decided to see if I could turn a couple of older Farish Black 5's I had sitting in a box into something more useful, and decided to see if I could make at least a passable representation of a Parallel Scott, so these were added to the production queue.
Remarkably for me despite very limited time, I have managed to get quite a bit done on the two Scot's one and they are not far from having the majority if their construction complete
Scot number 1
I think even though its not Crimson the post war black livery was rather smart, so I decided to finish one of the Scots in this livery, I thought this would be easy but the lining on the tender was a bit of a challenge at times but fun in some ways. She is now at the stage were a crew lamps and glazing are the next jobs then a bit of weathering and she is ready to roll. the next big job is deciding on what identity to give her, help please.
Scot number 2
I had to have a least one Crimson Scot, but I think this one will be coupled to a Stanier tender, as the lining on the Fowler tender was a severe test of my sanity. Still a bit of lining to do, then the tender, and a crew and lamps and then a bit of weathering to cover my lining up and it will be ready to enter the fleet. All I have to is decide upon a name for her, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Duchess's
Well a little progress has been made with these, I managed to obtain another example, which will definitely finish up as a none streamlined example in LMS crimson, again identity yet to be chosen. The other two have become Semi's in post war black and have both received all the required lining. I have even decided to finish one as City of Lancaster, and the other as City of London.
So if I carry on at this rate I may have them all finished and ready by Christmas, but I'm not sure what the year will be, I suppose I can live in hope. As ever until the next time Happy Modelling
