Delph - Crab scuttles home

My painted and weathered Crab was returned home this afternoon and very nice it looks to me. The apparent strange angle of the front steps in the last photo I posted which raised comment was, happily, an optical illusion or due to barreling of the camera lens.
Here are some shots of it parked in front of the Jubilee.

Now to fit the DCC chip and front AJ coupling. I'll have to try to source the correct shed plate - Farnley Junction, 55C.

Absolutely delightful, Dave. Crabs are such characterful locos that we don't see modelled half enough. I have around fifty or sixty underlined in my ABCs but, sadly, not 42713.

Your Caprotti 5MT is another classic from my past that I love seeing. My local shed in Southport was responsible for some of the scruffiest examples around and we had a number of them over the years.

David,

Thanks for your comment. As you say, Crabs and Caprotti Black 5's were characterful locos, if not the most aesthetically pleasing. It seems that I never saw 42713 either, although 14 and 15 underlined. I chose the number because there's a photo of it hauling a Greenfield to Llandudno holiday excursion through Lees in the 1950's. Such a train could easily have originated at Delph, with a slight stretch of the imagination, so it's entirely appropriate for my layout (unlike lots of my other locos!).

Thanks John and Black5. The Jubilee will be a bit cleaner, but definitely not ex-works. I am anticipating the Caprotti Black 5 to be fairly filthy, as I believe they always were.
