Toplight pt2

The Fatadder

A little more work on the toplight, the chassis has been thickened up with a laminate of 20thou plasticard which sits inside the bodyshell.
The slaters headstock was glued in place along with comet buffers. The coach I am working from has L section trussing so this was added from some much shortened dc kits parts.

Bogies (9ft fish-belly) were from my scrap box (kays I think)

Next up roof detailing, needing the toilet panels adding along with roof vents.

All in all I am still not 100% happy with this project, I keep thinking that I'd have rather built it in brass, that glazing will be a nightmare and that the plastic body has already bowed outward in places. Even if coopercraft were still selling them, I don't think I'd be building another. The next toplight will be in brass from Worsley Works!blogentry-54-0-62049500-1485901170_thumb.jpg

It may be a pain to build, but I like the look of it in the pic. But my sympathies when you get to the glazing.

Thanks.

I have now added roof vents, and corrected my earlier mistake with the roof (firstly Coopercraft only had a brake third roof available, secondly I glued it on the wrong way round!). I've fixed this by carefully carving off the toilet hatch from the wrong side and scratch building two replacements for the compartment side.

Destination board brackets were also added to the roof from plastic strip.

Just need to add some underframe details (frogmore battery boxes, vac cylinders from my spares box), build the interior (I have the Slatters corridor wall along with dc kits seats) then it's ready for paint
