Encouraged by the success of the plough on Friday I decided to run the Garratt on Saturday. The weather was COLD it was SNOWING and the tracks were WET and SLIPPY.
Not to be put off I got the Garrett out along with the 3 freshly glazed coaches. Fortunatley there are no passangers inside yet, as they may complain about the lack of doors.
All went well till the battery started to run down, with the lack of power, traction became a problem on the slippery gradients.
Here we see her struggle out of the bottom bend, and up the gorge. At one point a slip resulted in having a second stab at the hill and she fought through to make the climb.
Given the conditions, the weight of the three coaches and the body weight of the scratch built garrett itself, Im not disheartened, it makes for some video interest any way !!
After the Garratt I found some half charged batteries and ran a much lighter passanger service, in the form of a repianted playmobil unit with no other modifications other than a set of metal wheels to the front and back bogies.
Im now looking out of the window on Sunday and the railway is a distant memory ! Constant snow fall since first light has buried it under about 4" of snow.....
I NEED A BIGGER PLOUGH or a SNOW BLOWER !!!!!
