Preparing the 9.02am departure for Epple

Having uncoupled from its train 34001 'Exeter' runs to the end of the platform to use the crossover to run round its train. Bulleid pacifics have to run right up to the stops in order to clear the points, something I occasionally forget! Standing adjacent in the loop siding is the express goods brake van off the morning goods arrival. The Guard has already moved the side lamps to the other end but left the tail lamp in situ until the outgoing wagons have been shunted into place.

Exeter backs onto set 199. After coupling up the stock will be propelled back into the platform to allow passengers to board.

34001 'Exeter' stands at Cill's platform with set 199 ready to form the 9.02am departure for Epple. As soon as 34001 had propelled back clear of the loop points 31579 pulled the wagons from No. 2 siding. The last three were left standing at the entrance ready for the next move while the remainder were propelled into the loop. The three vans furthest from 31579 will be attached to the brake van to form part of the morning goods departure.
