The beginning

At long last I have been able to start my blog on my future layout, set on some fictional exchange sidings between a BR(WR) branch line and an NCB-operated colliery located near Kinlet, near Highley in Shropshire. There was actually a colliery at Kinlet, but it closed in the late 1930s and had its own branch line, with exchange sidings located just north of where the SVR's Arley station is located now. Here is a map of the branch line in reality:

It will be a small layout with maximum operating potential, and in addition to coal trains there will be scope for an early morning miners train, a pigeon special and a pick-up goods which uses the sidings to run round to then pick up/drop off the wagons at a goods shed serving the village of Kinlet. The layout will be intended for exhibitions, and any advice or suggestions would be most welcome.

Motive power is expected to be mostly Ex-GWR, with a 45xx, a 56xx and a 57xx, not forgetting something for the colliery itself.
