Bakewell station footbridge

For the past few weeks I have been adding the footbridge to the Bakewell project. I had originally decided to use the etched brass Churchwood models kit supplied by Phoenix paints but on visiting the Great Central model railway event in June 2017, came across the excellent range of laser cut kits made by L Cut Creative. The price of £14.99 for the kit seemed very reasonable.

On opening the box the components were very easy to put together using PVA glue and in a couple of evenings had finished the kit. Next stage was the painting so after a bit of research and help from Alistair Green, spray painted the model a dark grey using Model Mates sprays. The effect was a little dark so I lightened back the effect by using some grey primer sprayed from a distance. Rust effects were painted on the frames to show general wear and tear. It is not a heritage Midland bridge which are normally painted MIdland maroon so the bridge is as it was pre-line closure in 1968.

I have now added the bridge to the platform adjacent to the road bridge as per real life and the effect is most convincing. Midland style wooden fencing has been added to the edge of the platform and the station is now looking the part. Eventually lamps will be added and other details.

The attached photos show the recent progress of construction

That looks really good Rob, you've made a great job, and it really looks the part.
