Monorail Part 1.

Follow the development of a monorail for Fun Town in this part 1,

Is it a bird, is it a plane, or is it just Snitzl Town's overhead tram. To be honest, didn't know whether to call this project an overhead train, engine or tram, technically its not yet a train, so I opted for tram. It's actually been eight months since my last blog, the main reason being that development of this overhead tram system has had a few major setbacks that caused me to take a three month break to sort out my workshop, replaced my old Southbend Heavy 10 lathe with an even older pre war Boley & Leinen LZ4, made new countershafts for a couple of Pultra lathes and then constructed new work benches. Enough of the excuses, this blog starts with the development of the monorail and ends with the archway supports for the rail, there's still a little more to come in part four of Fun Town......

Apologies for those that have seen this blog entry come and go, for some reason the images have not displayed in sequence, so I've deleted the blog entry and tried repeated uploads. In the end I attached previously uploaded images from the deleted blogs, so lets hope the images stay...

Thanks Corbs, I'm hoping that the tram will look a little more steampunk-esque when the plastic gears are replaced with metal spoked gears - a job I must add to my to do list.  Snitzl

Superb modelling, as always, and a very imaginative addition to Snitzl :)  I expect that the searchlight was useful for spotting any mischief-makers creeping up on the tower! - not sure how stable the political situation was in that part of the world.

Hi Mike, Nice to hear from you, I suppose the tower could be something like a chocolate factory that needs guarding from those Willy Wonka types, the tower is yet to get its gothic roof with revolving hot air balloon, thanks for the suggestion, its all food for thought..

Glad to see you posting again. Sounds like you have been busy. The tram is a rather innovative bit of modelling, not seen before I think!

I was going back through your entries to see if I could work out how the Fun Town micro relates to the rest of your layout/modelling. Are they entirely separate or is there a connection of sorts?

Very nicely made.  Real engineering design coupled with vivid imagination. Good to see something so different.

Hi Mikkel, yes its been a quite a while but I'm happy to be modelling again, can't seem to stay away from it for to long. As you say, the tram is not based on any particular historic prototype it's just a bit of fun creative modelling.

The Fun Town footprint is shaped a little bit like a jigsaw piece to fit as a lid on the Wall's Traverser Cover, so together, the units become one. The only problem is, its a little difficult operating the traverser with the Fun Town module blocking your view.

Aha, an integrated solution. Sounds like the Fun Town module might be stealing all the attention :-)
