Progress on the works end of Fen End Pit continues and one of the last features to reinstate was the tipping dock and mechanism. Where we previously had a much larger concrete pad which the conveyor magically sprung from (how anyone ever did maintenance on the bottom end of it was a mystery) we now have a much smaller concrete area and some rust plate doors for access. The oil tank has moved closer to the engine shed leaving the original side clear for the storage of more industrial junk.

The wagon tipping mechanism is quite simple, just a piece of square-brass tub which pivots slightly and has a hook at the end. When in the lowered position it is quite hidden and will be even less conspicuous once there are a few weeds around the hole.

The pusher rod tips the wagon over and tips the sand into the hopper. The area around the dock has some sleepers and also some scaffolding planks nicked off a local building site!

The pushing rod has a little hook on the end which engages with the riveted strip on the side of the skips.

The rod has to pivot to allow the end to pull in the slight arc needed.

Finally a bit more from the 3D printer. I drew up a railing bending tool and printed it out on the resin based DLP printer. I've just put a quick quote of primer on it.
