Heard an unusual aircraft noise, went out into the garden and saw a Lancaster bomber approach from the North, bank and turn, and head off North again.

 

From BBMF at Coningsby, I suppose... quite something to see!

A few years ago when I was still living in Florida, I was going into the grocery store and heard the unusual sound of four radial engines thundering and looked up and saw a B-17 going over. I saluted it and stood and watched it until it disappeared from sight.
