RMweb Gold Regularity 13,252 Posted May 25, 2018 RMweb Gold I first did that when 15... ...it wasn’t the last. Link to comment
RMweb Premium PaternosterRow 2,324 Posted May 25, 2018 RMweb Premium Done that a few times. I always keep a glass of water nearby when soldering and dip fingers in the second I’ve touched them with the iron - nearly always prevents blistering. That’s a nasty injury and hope that you can get back to the modelling soon. Link to comment
muddys-blues 1,704 Posted May 26, 2018 Ouch !!! You have my sympathies, I to have done the same .... it just proves with the numbers who have done the same .... as a species we aren’t as clever as we like to think ;-) Craig Link to comment
RMweb Gold ROSSPOP 2,295 Posted May 26, 2018 RMweb Gold Ha Ha ! At least I`m not the only plonker then. I think the ice cubes have lessened the tissue damage, and the pain has gone, just nuisance blisters in the way now but best not to burst them I think. In my younger days the worst episode was when I modelled in the corner of the lounge and dropped the soldering iron on a brand new carpet !! John Link to comment

Knuckles 1,151 Posted June 9, 2018 Not as bad as a friend of mine did way back when we were at collage. We had those inch thick fat ended soldering irons left on over lunch time and instead of hovering his hand over the top...or spitting on it to see if it was on he full blown squeezed the end. Nerves were damaged as he didn't move and inch but I heard a fizz and sensed a bacon fragrance! He looked at his now yellow hand and shrugged, went to walk away then the pain came. Bloody funny! What a plonka. Link to comment
