OK, new year's eve and a package arrived from Mainly Trains today, complete with these beauties

21mm drivers, 13mm tender and rear pony wheelsets and a 12mm wheelset for the front bogie. I have just about all the components to hand now to start the chassis construction. Ramrig is lending me a tender drive brit so I can trace the chassis - I need to make sure my scratchbuilt one will fit the bodyshell laugh.gif

Took a few moments whilst waiting for our chinese meal to arrivew to fit the wheels to axles and lay out a few bits on a scaled up plan - gives you a better idea of how it will end up cool.gif

Excellent! Now this is something to really get the pulse racing, is it to be a P1 or P2 Mikado?

Apologies to all who have not seen my signature for the last few months (or is that years!)

The loco to be built is a BR Standard 2-8-2 class 8 mixed traffic loco which was the forerunner of the 9F. The design is taken from E. S. Cox's "BR Standard Steam Locomotives" and features a Britannia Boiler etc.

Ah apologies for not looking mate. Still sounds like a most interesting type of loco, will be watching closely!

This is what I suggested the Bluebell does with its 9F it would be far kinder to the track going backwards! Good luck with the project I am kitbashing a Bachmann brassworks '0' gauge A3 into a P1 myself, so I might post pics of progress on that too! Matthew

Looks like you're on your way now!

I'll watch this project with great interest! Something about projected but never built designs - they really fire up the imagination, well - in me anyway.

Good luck with the build,

John E.
