Some Lorrie conversions
A while back I converted a Schudo Mercedes lorry into a covered tipper for use on my clay layout, I say converted but at the time I only did half the job. It remained as a 3 axle and has no detail on the rear door.
Last night I set about sorting that, the first job being that missing axle at the front. In order to obtain a suitable part I turned to another Schudo lorry, a Shell tanker, as a 3 axle chassis it was a little to big and long for my intended use (delivering heating oil). So I have removed and axle, chopped about an inch from the length and then glued back together. My cutting wasn’t too straight (tiredness and a couple of beers didn’t help) so there’s some filling to do in order to plug the gap.
The roof was modified to remove part of the walkway, while a the pumping equipment needs to be fitted to the back. It wail be repainted in shell colours with a local company’s branding
The spare axle has now been fitted to the tipper, so I will now get on with the rear detail. But before that it’s back to the layout for a bit more work
