A motley crew....

I have been slowly painting and lining the D1. It must be said painting and lining is something I have never been good at. I know how to do it but I just don’t seem to have the artistic flair for it. More than half an hour and my eyesight and hands become two entities with wills of their own, so it might be a while longer while I do the D1 bit by bit.

Mind you, I have no shortage of crew ready to drive it. Figures by Andy Stadden, The close up pic shows me where I need to just correct the paintwork a bit.

They look great. But I think we need a word with the management, you are rather overstaffed for a D1 :)

A very old tin of humbrol matt 61 as a base, then a wash of a darker acrylic for highlights corbs. I am getting a bit artistic with acrylics , I mix them up a bit . I'll be chopping off an ear and buying a beret next...

Fair point Mikkel , but some of my older locos have pointy armed drivers from very old airfix figures. Mind you I reckon it would take a crew of 6 to run and clean a D1.

Bit late to the party but following now.  I was attracted by the Kelvinbank reference then the tenement backscene reminded me of my part of Glasgow.  As I type I’m only 50m from one of the Kelvin bridges. In your early post about tunnelling you mentioned the 8’x5’ fiddle yard space - sounds like a bed recess to me!

We may pass like ships in the night (or should it be ‘day’) on Friday at the SEC if you’re going.

Paul.

Heh , well a long time ago it would have been a bed recess.  When I bought the flat the board for the servant bells was still there .

Ok, there is actually a book called "the bridges of the kelvin "  My favourite has to be the councillors bridge.

Plan A  is to be at the SECC on friday, I might be about the CRA stand .

Look back in the blog , there are a few pics of the traverser in the bed recess.

Fantastic scene in the header picture Dave. Hope we'll get to see some more shots like that.
