So after last years awesome day out at the DRS open day in Crewe someone on Facebook posted that Virgin Trains where having an open day in Crewe this year and decided not much is on the calendar for June this year id go. Planning to purchase a ticket next month in anticipation of going to Crewe again noting its right next door to the train station. Has anyone been before and do you just walk down the road next to the station at Crewe or do you have to speak to Virgin staff as the DRS one was walk down to the depot up to the gate buy your ticket and your in easy process. On a side note what is there to see at the depot anything like stored items and such around Crewe or is it mainly the depot shed and I wonder what we will expect to be there to look at on display

What do Virgin trains have at Crewe?

DRS have Gresty

Arrive Traincare have the old carriage sidings

Electric depot is DB

Freightliner etc are in the yards.

No Virgin stock is stored at Crewe - Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and Wembley. And mustn't forget Wolverhampton :)

This isn't Virgin, it's Locomotive Services isn't it - Jeremy Surname's show, surely.

EDIT: Jeremy Hosking - just checked and it is Crewe DMD, for charitable causes.

Hi there,

Virgin does staff training at Crewe.  The centre is about 1km from the station on foot.  They have the rear power car of the Grayrigg Pendolino, and two trailer cars, parked in the car park outside - it's the one we scanned for the Revolution/Rapido model.

Is this an enthusiast open day or a potential recuitment open day?  If the latter then it's probably at the training centre.

cheers

Ben A.

It is the old diesel depot, who'd have thought one of the stars of the show would be a Northern 142

If the rumours are to be believed, it will be the Northern 142 that's being reliveried into some sort of 'heritage' livery for its final year of operation before going off lease.
