Thanks.   If you look at my earlier video's there is a RTR Loco unboxing Whingy Rant vid! This J70 vid is party a response to that video.

Still too long if you ask me, forget the unboxing bit, just run it on the track and report if it is w*nk or unw*nk.

 

 

Lol!   Yeah, could trim it more.  Wanted to have half deicent pictures rather than waving it in everyone's faces!

 

Still, better than 20-30 minutes of waffle about the prototype and all the text in the papers.

I like the close-up stills. In fact here's a novel idea: Delete everything except the stills, and put them in a blog post one after the other 

 

PS: The tender in the background at 0:28 looks interesting!

I wasn't going to get one of these, because they're too far out of my geographical area, even for my outrageously improbable light railway, but then again, why shouldn't an outrageously improbable light railway have some even more outrageously improbably locomotives?

 

Glad KMRC sorted it out so quickly, but not surprised, they are very good like that.

The tender is one of my Sharpies yep, printed here on the Photon.  Progress is a bit slow as I'm juggling a hand full of projects, usual challenge then.  I get there eventually.

Now the proud possessor of 4 such Sharpie tenders  - 2 Cambrian, 2 Furness - they really are lovely little models. 

I can see a way to circumvent the naughty-word spotter in the software: put it in a video!

Can't stand censorship.  I also have an issue with the concept that certain words are taboo or evil.  Who said so?

 

Collective cultural memes (real memes not pictures with text on) and social opinion perpetuated blindly by everyone following the teachings of their piers.  As I conclude....that's literally all it is.

 

Thus it's foundation is nothing but shifting sands having no solid argument to truly establish itself as a truth.

I don’t like the taboo side, and have been clear with my children that once they reached teenage hood, that they can say what they like as far as I am concerned (their mother agrees with this) but only if they are aware of the social conventions surrounding their usage. Removing the taboo has removed the “shock value” of swearing. 

 

Yes, it is built on shifting sands, but so is everything about politeness, and indeed it works for other offensive words, such as the “n-word” which I remember hearing as a child, but hardly ever hear now outside of certain characters in Quentin Tarantino films. 

 

The much more important point is to show the appropriate amount of respect for others around oneself. 

 

Freedom, of any form but especially language, requires responsibility in its execution. Accepting personal responsibility is at the root of anarchy (in its proper meaning, “no structure”, which is only possible if respect for others is shown and if there is a degree of order and self-regulation) whereas destroying all rules and social conventions leads to chaos, conflict and confusion.

 

But I don’t like censorship, either. Why? Because I would much rather be given the opportunity to engage bigots in debate, and show them to be the mindless idiots that they are.

But if such debate is allowed, then is it censorship to request a show of respect and decorum in our conduct, and to maybe blank out some words so that people who can’t show respect for agreed social conventions don’t go around arbitrarily swearing in front of a mixed audience? This isn’t to say that there haven’t been (many) times when I have wanted to post a string of expletives aimed at the perpetrator of a particularly half-baked idea posted here...

Peers, yep!  Grammar has bever been my strongest point.

 

I do agree generally with your above, if I wound you up it's a consequence rather than an intent.  I certainly don't think it is good to throw f bombs around willy nilly but neither do I think it should be banned.

 

To me, I kind of want people to just think about what they believe and why, where they got the ideas from and to evaluate where the value is, if any, so a little 'bad' language here n there where it wouldn't usually be may raise some eyebrows and make me seem inconsiderate (and a prick!?) and I accept that as a possible reality and consequence of the self expression and subtle message I'd like to communicate.  I am considerate in some ways though, certainly won't be using c's!   Culturally it seems a lot worse....again no idea why, just collectively certain words we've all been  conditioned/brainwashed/taught to see in a negative light.

 

Thing is, one thing I learned the hard way in life (over and over until the penny finally dropped) is that it is impossible to please everyone if you intend standing your ground on any view or issue.  By default someone has to get erked......so I stopped bothering!
