Stourpaine and Durweston halt

Stourpaine and Durweston halt opened in 1928 and closed in 1956. It was on a single main line.  A passing loop was situated about half a mile North of the platform, I have used modellers license and put the passing loop at the platform (ducks for cover).

Most of the halt still remains being on private land.

The model is made from Plasikard and the platform supports and running in board from Dart Castings. I had to drill 96 x 0.4mm holes for the 0.33mm fence wire, still lots to do and i learnt one thing from my first sort of scratch build, i think i may need glasses.

Very nice, it's not only pleasing to see a halt modelled, but to get that rising scenery from the low ground at the front, is very effective.

My dad was born in Shillingstone (and my great grandfather worked on Blandford station) so my layout was originally going to be

based on that part of the S&D, like yours. But it gradually mutated into the GWR - but still in Dorset! It could go back to an S&D layout

in the future, though, as all the platforms, buildings and signals are removable. I'd be pleased if I did as good job as you've done

here.

Hi Barry, kind words thank you.

My Farther built me a GWR oval layout when i was growing up in Salisbury, we moved to Blandford when i was ten and i became fascinated with the closed railway. My first job was at Intasco at Shillingstone station in 1986, i used to eat my sandwiches on the platform. When i started the loft layout i tried to cram to much stuff in and as the layout extended, came to realise that old saying "less is more" is always true.

I tried to model the embankment as if it was built on existing sloping farmland as the real location. It takes up a lot of space.
