Just a quick post to thank those who came to see the layout at Guildex in Telford last weekend.  It was pleasure to meet everyone, Al and I enjoyed the event immensely:)  It was a really well organised show, being able to drive the hire van right to the space allocated for the layout almost made setting up the boards a pleasure!  So much easier on the knees than having to carry the boards across the exhibition hall:)

The layout behaved itself all weekend and it was good to  be able to operate the private siding for a change.  I built an 18 inch extension "fiddleyard" that fits to the right hand end of the layout, which allows my Manning Wardle and a couple of wagons to lurk off stage before trundling down the private siding and dropping the wagons into the exchange siding at the front of the layout.

Ready for the start of the show!

The layout was set at 90 degrees to Kevin's (KH1) very impressive "Up the Line" layout, which I enjoyed seeing in the "flesh for the first time.  I took the photos about 10 minutes before closing time on Sunday, which is why the hall looks a bit empty!  The whole weekend was really busy and huge thanks must go to Al who did more than his fair share of operating during the weekend while I chatted to the public:)  I definitely discovered that while I'm OK at operating the layout and can probably "talk for Britain", I cant do both at the same time!

The exhibition is absolutely enormous, some great layouts on display and really vibrant trade support for the 7mm scale modeller.  I spent far too much money on goodies as usual, which will no doubt figure in future additions to this blog🙂

I'll close with an overall picture of the exhibition, Sherton Abbas looks rather tiny in such a massive environment!

Until next time.......

Best wishes

Great weekend, a fine layout, some good laughs and probably too much beer into the bargaiin.

Glad to hear that you had a good weekend :)

The second  photo really shows the rounded backscene. I like that "fiddle box" too, maybe a whiskey box could serve the same purpose in 4mm!

I'd have thought a whiskey box would be ideal, with the added benefit of the pleasure involved emptying the box:)

I thought it was the layout of the show, too, although all of them were really good anyway. Demonstrates just what can be achieved in a relatively small space, and I look forward to more blogs! Thanks for exhibiting it.

Great to finally see the layout in person. Absolutely fabulous...it was the best in show for me by far.

Thanks Steve, I’m really pleased you liked seeing it:)
